August is for Armorcast

This month I reached out to one of the terrain company originals, Armorcast.  They have been in the biz since I’ve been in this hobby and they are still going strong.  Since the days of my first Reaver Titan, I’m always looking to see what cool stuff they are creating and how I can use it on the table top to better create my story.  I have boxes of there resin terrain kits for various projects I’m working on.  Over time I’ll be completing those projects and showing off pics and telling people just where I got those pieces that make the terrain pop.  Why wait when I can show you some cool stuff now.

Urban settings are very popular in the setting of Warhammer 40k and Armorcast has some great scenery for this.  Gothic to modern they have some great pieces for your table.  The Cathedral is amazing and they have a ruined version too.  I really like the modularity of the Goth Tech kits.  I was already thinking how I can combine this with other kits to make some truly amazing scenery.  If you are more into the modern look, they have you covered there as well.  Plenty of room to create your perfect cityscape and with their strong resin you know your terrain can handle some wear and tear.

I’ve said it before that I love scatter terrain and it can really spice up a city scene.  Armorcast has a wide variety, so much so that I thought it best to include it with each theme.  From roof top accessories to mailboxes, they got you covered.  They even have individual trash piles to make those alley ways seem all the more derelict.

Armorcast was kind enough to send me kits to give away to our listeners.  Give the Armorcast Facebook page a ‘like’ and stay current on their latest releases.  Expect more great stuff in the weeks ahead.

Episode 023; 30k, Jacque Cousteau Style

In our twenty third episode Mark and Peter discuss a wide variety of topics including what we’ve been up to in the hobby, games played and grenades

Segment 1: The battle for Chargis III in the Vestega System continues. We expand the theatre to the far reaches of the system where the Marines Errant discover a floating hulk on course for Chargis III.

Segment 2: We begin our discussion on the Main Rule Book fluff. Why? Cause there’s some great stuff in there and we wanted to tell you about what you may have been overlooking.

Segment 3: We continue our new segment called Exploring the World of 30k. We know many have taken this leap already, but for those dipping their toes in like Mark and I, we thought it would be a learning experience for us and our listeners. Though for every likeness between 30k and 40k, the game is very much not the same.

Bolter Segment: The Battle for Detros Mitus continues as the line is holding by the thinnest of threads.

The Mechanical Warhorse giveaway is still going. In an awesome act of kindness, Carlos sent us his new Model 30 Billboard to give away to our listeners. To enter leave us an Itunes review and/or like our facebook page NGC40k Podcast to get entered. We are drawing a winner in episode 024. Good Luck

Episode 023

Local Warhammer Store

img_2845I stopped by the local Warhammer store today.  Had a great conversation with Tony, the store manager, about various products and easing gamer entry into the hobby by promoting more Killteam type and various lower point level games.  I personally love playing at that point level, units matter more, and every model lost truly affects your armies overall performance.

He mentioned some Necromunda type events and a future Kill Team campaign being ran in the store.  He was excited about the upcoming Blood Bowl release.  I have to say, he made me excited for it too. It’s been a long time since I played on a pitch.

We both discussed our excitement for the new snow texture paint.  Best of all, he explained how to get great results with the newer gemstone paints.  A man of knowledge he is.  Glad to have you in our area.

Segment 1:  We review the Space Marines Codex, NGC style.  We delve codex deep into the codex fluff of the Ultramarines.

Segment 2:  We create a narrative campaign from scratch, on the fly.   We go through the who, why and what of the campaign process.  It was a lot of fun creating it and look forward to the first game.

Bolter Segment: The Battle for Detros Mitus continues as the orks make their advance on the Sabre Ridge.  (a repeat of last episodes, sorry, family life got in the way of recording the newest segment)

Episode 019

Episode 018; Exterminatus Part III

In our eighteenth episode Mark and Peter are joined by Andrew, a fellow, now local, ngc40k group member. We review the Exterminatus missions and ideas on other ways to use them in the game. With that we complete our coverage of the Exterminatus Campaign.

This episode closes the door on the Shield of Baal series. It’s been a long journey and I’m glad we were able to bring you all with us. I can’t wait to see what campaign door we open next.

Other discussions include Where we’ve been, What they’ve been working on, the background for Andrew’s NGC force and we close out the episode with some banter about our favorite units in the game.

Bolter Segment: The Battle for Detros Mitus continues as the orks make their advance on the Sabre Ridge. Over 10 hours of editing to create this segment.  I really tried to make it worth the wait.
