Fate of Konor: Galaxy in Flames

Hey everyone,

Guess who’s back

Back again

G-dub’s back

Tell a friend.

In all seriousness.  Games Workshop has aimed their bat for the left bleachers and I want to help them hit this one out of the park.  Narrative is what we do, right?  They have laid out an entire campaign battling over six planets.  Each one will have a fun, unique mission.  I’m excited and I hope you are too.

You can support your side in two ways.

One way is by painting minis and I mean come on, with all the new minis out and folks like us that are on One Hour a Night on Facebook, this should be a no brainer.  Don’t hold back and don’t be deterred, break out those brushes and help your side.

The other way to help is play the mission that they posted for the week.  I don’t know about you, but I’ve been playing the heck out of some 40k since the new addition dropped and you don’t have to talk me into catching a game, especially a narrative based one.

It’s in the game pff. . .    It’s in our name bro!

Lastly, all you have to do is report your results to the local store.  Simple and Sweet.

So go show your support for narrative gaming.  Follow the link and support the Fate of Konor.  Like the great Shai Lebeouf once said,

Games Workshop Gets Industrial

We close out June on a high note with our Model Terrain Company of the Month.  The release of Armageddon was followed by the timely release of 8th edition and with it a whole new set of terrain to create intense backdrops for your table top battles.  I’m talking about the Industrial Terrain that Games Workshop has released.  One after another, these kits were lined up and knocking it out of the park.  The grand slam for me was the release of the Sector Mechanicus Galvanic Servohaulers.

The modularity of these kits is crazy.  If you want ideas on things you can do with these terrain sets go to www.GamesWorkshop.com or go to the Warhammer-community website.  You could also check out Ray Dranfield on Twitter.  He is always showing off creative new ways to assemble the kits.

We will have a Games Workshop terrain giveaway at the end of the month.  The way to sign up is to like the NGC40k Podcast Facebook page or follow us on twitter @ngc40k.

Celebrating Games Workshop Terrain

As we have in the past few months, we try and expose you to some of the great terrain that the Model Terrain Company of the Month has to offer.  We’ve seen plenty of these kits in the past, yet as new pictures are released by Games Workshop it is clear that they are very inventive with the use of their terrain kits.  Forge World is great in this department too.  It’s why we all want to go and see it with our own eyes.

The coolest thing is they show you how many of the terrain builds go together.  You can find a lot of great videos if you subscribe to their twitch channel or a quick search on YouTube.  Games Workshop terrain is so unique that you can look at the insane builds they put together and figure out what pieces and from what kits they used too.  Many terrain boards maximize the use of the City Ruin kits and so I wanted to feature those today.

Next time you are looking at a custom terrain board by Games Workshop or ForgeWorld, see if you recognize where they pulled the pieces from.

We will have a Games Workshop terrain giveaway at the end of the month.  The way to sign up is to like the NGC40k Podcast Facebook page or follow us on twitter @ngc40k.

June’s Model Terrain Company of the Month: Games Workshop

June’s Model Terrain Company of the Month requires no introduction and with the release of 8th edition this month I thought the choice was all to clear.  Games Workshop is the reason we are all in the hobby.  Why we are members of 20 different Facebook groups and forums where we endlessly love to read about, write about, talk about and post pictures of the world they’ve created.  I love that they have given me so many outlets inside the same hobby where I can express so many avenues of my creativity.  Even more so that I get to share that with so many great people.

Like so many of us, my introduction to terrain came in old white dwarfs where I learned to make buildings from the Styrofoam that came in every squad box.  I still remember when the new additions came out and we got all googly eyed at the new cardboard terrain.  Then Games Workshop released a few books with even more ideas of how to tell a story on our table tops.  I still have and reference these for ideas.

books

Games Workshop has come a long way in their model making and terrain.  Not just what they have produced for us all to purchase in plastic and resin, but what and how they present it.  Warhammer World is still on my bucket list and I hope one day to see it with my own eyes and personally thank Ray Dranfield and the crew for creating such awe inspiring works.

I thought it best to kick this whole thing off right and since we are a narrative based show, I’m going with a narrative theme.  The Cadian Gate has fallen.  A rift into the ether has torn the galaxy in two and the entire Imperium is exposed.  The threat of chaos has suddenly and frighteningly become a very uncompromising reality to the average Imperial citizen.  Defense Lines are being created, bolstered and re-bolstered.  If you are to hold until re-enforcements arrive, you will need to stack up as much metal on metal as you can.  Dig those trenches deep and stack those sandbags higher, because the flood of chaos is coming.

From the Wall of Martyrs to the humble Aegis line, Games Workshop has what you need to plan your defense.  I have tons of this stuff and I keep adding more pieces to my collection.

We will have a Games Workshop terrain giveaway at the end of the month.  The way to sign up is to like the NGC40k Podcast Facebook page or follow us on twitter @ngc40k.

VALEDOR! ApocLuck 2017

Peter, you haven’t posted in nearly three weeks, where on earth have you been?

Well it all started several months ago when I was planning the scenery for the 2017 Apock Luck series.  This years theme was Apocalypse Warzone Valedor.  I decided this was the year I would up my game and really hit it.  I started pooling in terrain from all over, Gamecraft Miniatures, Horizon Creation 3D, Mechanical Warhorse, Terrainify, to name a few.

I had been posting a steady countdown to the event on the 1houranight facebook group.  It drew a lot of attention.  It came down to the wire at 2am the day of when I finally said what’s done has to be it.

Later that morning, nearly 60,000pts of points was on the board.  Even Kenny from the Combat Phase podcast participated.  It was glorious.

Here is a link to all the 2017 Apoc Luck, Valedor: The Mirrored Shield.

Of course like everything, it all starts with putting your idea on paper.

Terrain Index Tab

Every battle has a story, every story has a stage and every scene requires spectacular terrain to help tell the tale.

Check out the newly added Terrain Index Tab.  It is a compiled list of terrain by type from various companies to help gamers find just what they are looking for.  I have a long list of companies to add yet.  This is only the beginning.

If you know of a company that belongs on this list, please email me at ngc40k@gmail.com

Apoc Luck XVI 2016 Finale

Another great year in the books.  Three years and running.

A huge thank you to our event sponsors: Kromlech, Mechanical Warhorse, and Secret Weapon Miniatures.  Thank you Pickle Jar for catering the event, the food was incredible.

I set out to theme the event after Kastorel Novem and get as many Ork players in the community to participate.  By years end, there was nearly 80,000 pts on the table.  An entire side of Orks!  It was glorious.  Please check out the photo album of the event.  Norm built a custom Ork Blasta Bomma from a B-24 Liberator for the event, it is amazing.

Our very own Matt went home with an NGC40k Party Wagon for being the best sportsman of the event.
