The Battle for Chargis III Continues

Mark and I got together last night to record a special episode and return focus on the Bandrois Campaign.  This was a custom mission Mark wrote up.  I will start a new tab on the site where you can download these missions and play them for yourself.

Narrative campaigns are a great way to play the game.  It’s our favorite way to play and we want to continue to share our love of this game with everyone.  We are asked narrative gaming questions all the time.  Listening or reading to how we put these missions together and use those results to build our next mission, is a great way to learn how to do this yourselves.  I would love to hear about your narrative campaigns, named characters, etc.

This mission was all about the local PDF trying to paint the Raven Guard as heretics by sending a last ditch transmission into space and the Astartes storming out of the shadows to thwart it.

There were some epic showdowns and it was a bloodbath on both sides.  The Primaris Marines really shined in the game and The Angel of Death (my chaplain) had an incredible effect on the guardsmen when he buried himself in their lines.  The PDF priest shined even brighter in this game, helping the guard assault and slaughter scouts and marines alike.

We will talk all about this in Episode 41.

Episode 039; Stagnation Nation

Mark and Peter discuss hobby progress and what gorilla glue is not meant for.

Segment 1: We discuss Hobby Stagnation. What got us into it and the simple remedy to get you out of it.

Segment 2: We answer a two part listener question about the collecting and expansion of your current army, and how to tackle lopsided victories in a campaign.

Episode 39

Episode 025; In Rogue Trader, Earth girls are easy

In our twenty fifth episode Mark and Peter discuss a wide variety of topics including what we’ve been up to in the hobby, games played, and the ever expanding Bandrois campaign just keeps getting better.

Segment 1: We continue our discussion on the Main Rule Book fluff. Why? Cause there’s some great stuff in there and we wanted to tell you about what you may have been overlooking. This time we cover the hierarchy of the imperium and just how crazy space marines are..

Segment 2: We continue our Exploration of the World of 30k. We know many have taken this leap already, but for those dipping their toes in like Mark and I, we thought it would be a learning experience for us and our listeners. Though for every likeness between 30k and 40k, the game is very much not the same. In this episode we cover some of the fast attack choices.

Bolter Segment: The Battle for Detros Mitus continues as the line is holding by the thinnest of threads.

Episode 025

Episode 022; WarGames Con

In our twenty second episode Mark and Peter discuss a wide variety of topics including what we’ve been up to in the hobby, games played and WarGames Con

Segment 1: The battle for Chargis III in the Vestega System continues. A person that may hold the secret to Bandrois’s whereabouts must be dispatched. Will the Bandrois forces be able to silence the tongue before the mouth has spoken?

Segment 2: We are starting a new segment called Exploring the World of 30k. We know many have taken this leap already, but for those dipping their toes in like Mark and I, we thought it would be a learning experience for us and our listeners. Though for every likeness between 30k and 40k, the game is very much not the same.

Bolter Segment: The Battle for Detros Mitus continues as the ork bikes breach the the lines in advance of the endless ork war machine.

The Mechanical Warhorse giveaway is still going. In an awesome act of kindness, Carlos sent us his new Model 30 Billboard to give away to our listeners. To enter leave us an Itunes review and/or like our facebook page NGC40k Podcast to get entered. We are drawing a winner in episode 024. Good Luck

Episode 022

Episode 020; Who is Bandrois?

In our twentieth episode Mark and Peter return after another long stint. We discuss what we’ve been up to in the hobby and games played.

Segment 1: The battle for Chargis III in the Vestega System continues. Just who is Lord Bandrois? We also continue the campaign creation by discussing what we plan to do for the second installment of the Bandrois campaign.

Segment 2: Interesting Places on the Web. We cover a few cool places that have been passed on to us by others. We also tip our hat to one of Pete’s favorite youtube channels as they bid their followers farewell.

Bolter Segment: The Battle for Detros Mitus continues as the ork bikes breach the the lines in advance of the endless ork war machine.

Episode 020

Sorry for the wait listeners.  Mark and I will be back on our bimonthly release schedule moving forward.  See you in two weeks.

Episode 018; Exterminatus Part III

In our eighteenth episode Mark and Peter are joined by Andrew, a fellow, now local, ngc40k group member. We review the Exterminatus missions and ideas on other ways to use them in the game. With that we complete our coverage of the Exterminatus Campaign.

This episode closes the door on the Shield of Baal series. It’s been a long journey and I’m glad we were able to bring you all with us. I can’t wait to see what campaign door we open next.

Other discussions include Where we’ve been, What they’ve been working on, the background for Andrew’s NGC force and we close out the episode with some banter about our favorite units in the game.

Bolter Segment: The Battle for Detros Mitus continues as the orks make their advance on the Sabre Ridge. Over 10 hours of editing to create this segment.  I really tried to make it worth the wait.

Great Advice

Tactical Objectives

Dan from The Narrative Guys has written a great article about themed objectives.  I thought this article was totally worth reading and reinforces concepts that Mark and I discuss regularly.  Create a reason that your soldiers are going somewhere and why the command would want them to control it.  Or maybe they need to control it to advance their mission and the game you’re playing is only the pre-mission.

Either way, check out the article.

NGC40k Episode 009; Death Storm book review

NGC40k Episode 009

In our ninth episode Mark and Peter discuss hobby, narrative events at tournaments, charity events and other cool stuff happening in the community. Did we mention just how big the Shield of Baal campaign series is? We continue the coverage with the novella “DeathStorm” by Josh Reynolds. This book is a great companion to the background given in the box set. It really expands the story.

Bolter Segment: Brother Maxus, with Sergeant Valus, communicates with their Strike Cruiser only to find something from the warp is about to alter their plans.

Hobby Spotlight: Mark and Peter return with another in depth hobby spotlight. Mark really shows off what you can do with what some would perceeve as garbage.  Big Mek Stompa pics

A reminder, don’t forget about Midnight Madness The War on Hungar, Nov 21st-22nd @ SoCal Games and Comics in Temecula, CA

Tell a Friend Campaign

Mark and I are always thinking of ways to get you the listeners more involved.  This new and continuing campaign will be a tell a friend campaign.  Every 500 likes we get on our Facebook page, we will have a drawing.  The listener will receive a custom piece of terrain from both Mark and myself.  So two kick ass custom pieces to add to your table just for spreading the word about our show.  Bonus, we will include a Mechanical Warhorse billboard.  Yes the same billboards you’ve heard so much about.  These billboards I include in every Apoc Luck game, not only because they look awesome, but functionally they are great to have on the table.

So tell a friend, like our Facebook page and thanks for listening.
