VALEDOR! ApocLuck 2017

Peter, you haven’t posted in nearly three weeks, where on earth have you been?

Well it all started several months ago when I was planning the scenery for the 2017 Apock Luck series.  This years theme was Apocalypse Warzone Valedor.  I decided this was the year I would up my game and really hit it.  I started pooling in terrain from all over, Gamecraft Miniatures, Horizon Creation 3D, Mechanical Warhorse, Terrainify, to name a few.

I had been posting a steady countdown to the event on the 1houranight facebook group.  It drew a lot of attention.  It came down to the wire at 2am the day of when I finally said what’s done has to be it.

Later that morning, nearly 60,000pts of points was on the board.  Even Kenny from the Combat Phase podcast participated.  It was glorious.

Here is a link to all the 2017 Apoc Luck, Valedor: The Mirrored Shield.

Of course like everything, it all starts with putting your idea on paper.

Upcoming Apoc Luck

The upcoming Apoc Luck is shaping up nicely.  As I’ve discussed on the show, we are doing “The Raid on Kastorel Novem”.  We have a seven players creating a solid wall of Orks on one side and another seven representing the Imperium.  And yes, the Raven Guard will be present.

Over 40,000 pts of smaller units.  In addition, 12 Super Heavies will be on the table.

This is an excellent start to the Apoc Luck season.

“Go Big of Go Home”

NGC40k Episode 011

Episode 011

In our eleventh episode Mark and Peter are joined by their friend Norm to discuss hobby, the 2015 Apoc Luck Finale in all it’s glory.  Again we would like to thank Kromlech, Mechanical Warhorse, and Secret Weapon Minatures for sponsering the free event.  In this episode we also include a bonus topic of the how’s, when’s and why’s of Naming a character model. This also includes a special challenge for our listeners.

Bolter Segment: Sergeant Valus inspires the Imperial Guard and defends the position with an air strike.

Hobby Spotlight: Norm’s custom Realm of Battle Board. (Hobby Photos)

Getting Back to It

I’m truly excited to get both Mark and Norm to sit at the bar and discuss how and why to name a character.  We will also have an in depth discussion on the 2015 Apoc Finale.  I have an interview lined up with Norm to discuss his homemade City Realm of Battle board that is sure to intrigue our listeners.

2015 Apoc Finale

The 2015 Apoc Finale was a overwhelming success. I wanted to thank all the participants for making it the best event to date. A huge thanks to Pegasus Games for letting us take up their entire gaming space. Big thank you to the event sponsors: Kromlech, Mechanical Warhorse and Secret Weapon Miniatures.  Thank you Aaron, Andy and Matt for providing the FAT mats that just made the terrain pop even more.  Special thanks to my friend Al for coming down and taking all the photos of the event.  Brian and David, the men behind the Chaos Incursion, a hearty thank you.  And thank you John from Pickle Jar bbq & pie for supplying the best food in Madison, WI.

Boy so many things to discuss, look for Episode 11, we will discuss the entire event from start to finish.  In the end we had a 5’x22′ table holding over 90,000 points.  Even John Kovalic, the artist of Dork Tower stopped by to see the spectacle.

The Tau ended up with three MVPs and the Imperial side had one.  The first Tau MVP was Imotekh for surviving the next two MVPs.  The next two MVPs for the Tau were the two Imperial Warlord Titans, catastrophically exploding in top of turns 2 and 3, removing nearly 60% of the imperial force.  The Imperial MVP was Jeremy and his Space Marine and Elysian army.  Single handedly dropping in the far back field sea of green and bravely challenging the xenos back objective for four solid turns.

In the end it was a xenos victory, 28 to 24.  The Imperial side never gave up and pressed hard to try to catch up from the half, but couldn’t quite pull it off.

Again, thank you everyone for participating and I look forward to seeing all of you next year for Kastorel Novem.  Check out the Apoc Luck page for photos.

May I Present. . . the Aquilla Cathedral

The goal, make it a large enough ruin for a Warhound to walk through.  That is one of my house Terryn in there for scale.  The board it is resting on is my normal 4’x6′ gaming board.  The other goal, make it have an Aquilla shape when viewed from above.  I’d say mission accomplished.

Less Than Two Weeks !!!

Less than two weeks to go until the final showdown on Agrellan Prime.  You’ve heard me talking about buildings, buildings, buildings for it seems like forever.  I have one last building to complete, the Aquilla Cathedral.  The 2015 Damocles Warzone Apoc Series has been awesome and like last year, nothing tops the Finale.

I want to give a thank you to our event sponsors Kromlech, Mechanical Warhorse and Secret Weapon Miniatures.  I want to give an extra shout out to Kromlech.  They went above and beyond for this event.  When their first event package was lost in transit from Poland, they stepped forward and sent me another prize pack.  That was totally unexpected and I just wanted to say their products, service, and support for the gaming community are top notch.  Go check out all three sponsors on the web.  They have some amazing products.

And I would also like to thank John from Pickle Jar bbq & pie for catering this event.
